Handmade Tortillas

Prepare with La Providencia, a delicious recipe of handmade corn tortillas, so that you will never forget the taste of Mexico.

 

Products from La Providencia:

  • Aluminum non-stick griddle/Comal
  • Tortilla press
  • Tortilla keeper
  • Metal Paddle
  • Salt

You’re going to need:

  • 3 ¾ cups of corn dough
  • Water
  • Salt
  • 1 plastic bag cut in two

Procedure:

  1. Mix the corn dough with a little water and salt to taste, kneading it until a smooth paste is obtained.
  2. Form the dough into small balls.
  3. Place a piece of plastic in a metal or wooden press from La Providencia, and place a ball of dough on top; cover it with another piece of the same plastic.
  4. Press the dough ball firmly.
  5. Open the press and carefully peel off the plastic. 
  6. Spread the tortilla on a metal or clay comal, from La Providencia, over the fire and previously heated.
  7. Let the tortilla grill on the griddle for approximately 15 seconds. Turn the tortilla over and cook for another 30 seconds. Flip again and cook for 15 seconds more.
